Entry Requirements: 18+
Since forming early in 2018, new Scottish contemporary jazz six-piece Nimbus Sextet have already gained attention for their organic blend of jazz, hip-hop and world music elements & their infectious approach to melody and groove. Hot off the press from their show supporting Gilles Peterson at Sub Club in November, join them as they celebrate the launch of their debut Double A-Side single 'Seance/Arabesco' at The Blue Arrow to cap off an exciting and eventful year.
The brainchild of Jambouree keys/harmonica player Joe Nichols, Nimbus Sextet play fresh compositions that span the jazz and world music spectrum and express each member's musical backgrounds. Featuring excellent musicians from the Glasgow and Edinburgh scenes with diverse musical experience from klezmer to Cuban son and funk to folk, the band are united by their collective foundation in jazz and world music. Marrying Afro-Cuban, West African and Balkan motifs with post-bop and hip-hop, their unique 'world fusion' channels an intuitive rhythmic energy and interlaces this with rich melodic ideas and captivating improvisation.
